Just a few pyramids behind us in Egypt.

Just a few pyramids behind us in Egypt.

Welcome aboard.

I’ve always considered blogging for a while now; but given the strange fad of “fashion bloggers” my Filipino generation is so obsessed about, I shut down and decided I didn’t want to be any part of that. I didn’t want to sell out. As Erica Paredes said on Twitter, “Ang daming blog ngayon na puro press release na lang.” No truer words have ever been spoken re: Filipinos & blogging. Or maybe even non-Filipinos, I don’t know - I never paid any attention to them.

So, why am I blogging? A few minutes ago I chanced upon my good friend Steffi Tad-y - Idian’s page and honestly, I just skimmed over one page of her account and realized I was wrong. Not everyone who blogs is a sell out. Not everyone has a “me, me, me!” complex. I admit, I was so naive to think of it that way. There are still people out there who have a sincere motive in writing on the internet for the benefit for unknown readers. I bet whatever I’m saying will sound so lame in a few months.

Earlier today I was cleaning up my Twitter account and realized how stupid some (most) of my tweets were; and to think they were only a couple of months back. Also I got paranoid that some of them could be taken against me or used as blackmail. Lol. Which leads to another reason I’m putting up this blog: I wanna have something worthwhile that documents my remaining days in the Philippines, and if I’m lucky, my future days in the Navy. So, here goes nothing. :)
